Leopardstown is justly regarded as one of Europe's
premier racetracks both in terms of the quality of racing and
its superb facilities. There are 23 racemeetings held throughout
the year, providing a mixture of National Hunt and Flat fixtures.
The four-day Christmas
Festival in December and the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup in February
are the highlights of the National Hunt season.
The most prestigious Flat races are the
Heinz 57 Phoenix Stakes in August and the Esat Digifone Champion
Stakes - part of the Emirates World Series Racing Championship,
which is run in September each year.
The Racecourse is located
only 30 minutes drive from Dublin Airport, but is time
consuming to get to on busy racedays so allow at leat 90 minutes to
get there and park etc: As one of Ireland's premier racecourses the
facilities are superb. Good Bars and Restaurants, A nightclub,
Leisure Centre and Shopping on site this is really a small village
on a Racecourse.
There is a also a Golf Course in the centre of
the racecourse, which allows for excellent viewing of all races from
the Grandstands. Altogether a great day out.
