Gowran Park is located about 30 minutes drive
from the centre of Kilkenny, one of the best visitor locations in
Ireland.
Gowran is home to the THYESTES CHASE, a Group 1
Steeplechase which always attracts a large crowd due to the
competitive nature of the race.
The racecourse facilities are in
need of updating and re building in some cases. I am sure the Irish
Racing Authorities will get round to it sometime.
That said
Gowran is a great venue for racing and sometimes attracts good
horses to its other meetings. This makes for a lively betting
market, (and a lot of frustrated punters! ).
