The Galway festival meeting is NOT to be
missed. The whole city of Galway, and much of Ireland, comes to a
standstill for the week of fine racing and craic in August each
year.
IMPORTANT: If you are planning to visit Galway
during FESTIVAL WEEK.
The Galway festival is the best attended Racing
Festival in Ireland. Spread over a whole week, this year between the
30th July and the 5th August 2001.
This is a very busy time to try to book Hotels, Accommodation,
Transport and other facilities in or around GALWAY
City. For this reason we have provided this page to
help you book early enough to enjoy the best facilities.

The Racecourse itself is a fine facility which
has recently been updated and now has excellent spectator viewing,
Bars Restaurants and the largest collection of Bookmakers ever
assembled in Ireland ! Located about 5 miles out of Galway
City Centre, in Ballybrit, Galway always attracts large crowds. If
you are planning a trip to take in the festival meeting please
ensure you book accommodation and transport well in advance
otherwise you may be disappointed. Also allow at least 90 minutes to
travel from Galway City to the course, even if you have pre booked
tickets the crowds are large and it takes a time to get inside the
grand stand. The other racemeetings are all good to visit and the
quality of the racing is always high, so good attendances and lively
nightlife in the city make for a great day out. If you are
anywhere near Galway or Ireland for that matter in August please do
not miss the chance to savour what is one of our national
events.
