Because Ireland is an island, there are, of course, only two ways to get here, by plane or boat.

Flights    Airport Information
Over 4 million passengers fly into Ireland from all over the world each year. International Irish flights arrive at Ireland's three major airports; Dublin, Shannon and Belfast. In addition, Aer Lingus, the Irish national airline, and Ryan Air fly into six regional airports.

Ferries    Ferry Information
Ferries run from the West coast of Britian to Dublin, Belfast and Rossalare on the southeast coast of Ireland. Ferries also run from France to Rossalare. These ferries carry vehicles as well as passengers.
Ferry & Coach
The Eurolines service connects Ireland to the UK and other destinations in Europe through coach service that arrives via the ferries. A single fare includes coach and ferry and can connect through Bus Eireann’s bus services to destinations throughout Ireland. All Eurolines services are operated with luxury coaches equipped with on-board toilets, reclining seats and panoramic viewing windows. Advance reservation are required. For more information see the Eurolines website.
Direct Aer Lingus flights from the United States leave from New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. Delta also flies from direct from Atlanta and Continental from Newark, NJ. US and Canadian visitors can leave from these gateway cities for either Shannon or Dublin. (American Airlines "code shares" Aer Lingus's aircraft and can issue tickets directly - but usually for more in the exact same seats!). Flying time to Ireland is 6½ hours from New York, 7½ hours from Chicago, 10 hours from Los Angeles.
There are no direct flights from Canada to Ireland. Connections can be made through US airports, London or other UK airports.
