There are a great selection of excellent restaurants and eateries
to choose from in Galway, whether enjoying some great pub food
or an evening meal in one of our recommended restaurants.
The selection of fresh and organic foods around Galway is superb,
there are some great local cheese companies and an abundance
of organic producers, not to mention the most delicious seafood
and shellfish on the west coast. You will find some restaurants
specialising in seafood, but as always there is an array of
traditional and ethnic restaurants also. Pub food is usually
quite good during the day and inexpensive too. Owing to more
pedestrianised streets (compared to Dublin) many coffee shops
and pubs "extend" during the summer months to accommodate the
diners and drinkers so you will be able to enjoy Galway life
as it passes happily by.
Galway is well renowned for its excellent Galway Bay oysters
and there are two festivals surrounding the delicacy each year.
The Galway International Oyster Festival and the Clarenbridge
Oyster Festival (just outside Galway) both take place in September
this year and provide great entertainment, music and craic over
the weeks. |
