Travel outside the city by boat, bus, car or bicycle and explore some of the beautiful villages and towns, where a warm welcome awaits. Stretching from the Shannon to the sea, the Burren to the "Twelve Bens" the Galway region something for everyone to enjoy.

Take a tour through Connemara, renowned for it's rugged landscape and wild beauty. Spiddal in the Gaeltacht "gale-toc-t" (Irish speaking) area, has an interesting craft centre, hidden beaches and friendly atmosphere. Clifden is the largest town in Connemara and you can be sure of great music, food and drink. Roundstone is a beautiful fishing village, sample delicious seafood delicacies after a slightly long but breathtaking coastal drive - it really is well worth the trip.

It goes without saying that a visit to the Aran Islands is a must. Take a short ferry across to one or all three of these beautiful islands that protect the coast of Galway from the full force of the Atlantic. Aran Island Ferries depart from Galway daily and will have you there in just under 1 hour. Inis Mór the largest of the islands has a population of over 1,000. Tourism is the main industry on the island with plenty of hotels, pubs, B+B's, and craft shops. There is something to discover on each island, ancient forts, shipwrecks and hidden cycle paths that will take you away from the worries of everyday life.
