The Irishguide is based in Dunlavin, County Wicklow, Ireland
and also has offices in New York. Together with our sister company
Abacus Ireland, we specialise in the promotion of the Irish
Tourist Industry. We aim to be the best Internet guide to Ireland
with the most comprehensive information on our site for visitors.
Abacus Ireland design and build websites primarily for the Irish
tourist industry, while also providing extensive web management
services to its clients, including The Irishguide.
The Irishguide was developed n September 1999 and the full site
was available in July 2000. The newly designed and expanded
site you now see was first implemented in January, 2001. The
site is continually being improved and expanded. For 2001, we
plan a number of technical improvements to our site, including
a site search facility and other enhancements.
We are independent of any Irish Goverment body and are free
to express our views. This gives us the ability to pass on the
BEST information to you. We accept paid advertising on our site
which is clearly displayed on banners. We do not accept advertising
from locations that we do not already recommend. Tourist locations
are NOT required to purchase advertising to be listed on our
site. Our editorial evaluation is strickly independent from
our advertising revenue. Our mission is to "Provide the
most informative, comprehensive and factual tourist guide to

 This
year The Irishguide travelled to the Irish Fest in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin for one of the biggest and best attended celebrations
of Irish Culture outside Ireland!
The festival takes place on the shores of Lake Michigan and
is held over over four days each year. The aim of the festival
is to promote and preserve Irish culture, and over the years
the Milwaukee Irish Fest has earned both national and worldwide
acclaim. Irish Fest features an array of the finest traditional
and contemporary Irish and Irish American musicians and entertainers,
displayed on 16 stages. Some 130,000 visitors to the fest this
year enjoyed fantastic displays of music, dance and cultural
exhibits, theatre, dancing, parades, contests, food, and lots
more. Also present were a selection of the best Tour Operators
and travel companies offering great packages and deals to Ireland.
This year The Irishguide teamed up with one of our valued clients
Irish Car Rentals.com to promote Ireland and assist many
avid travellers in booking cars, accommodation and planning
their trips to Ireland. Many intending travellers were eager
to know the best areas of Ireland to visit during their stay
and hints on driving around Ireland. The response from enthusiastic
visitors to the Fest was phenominal, with many planning their
vacations up to 2 years in advance - and The Irishguide and
Irish Car Rentals were there to help them!! A great time was
had by all and The Irishguide hopes to attend again next year!
