with its ever changing colours. All rooms feature marbled en-suite

dial telephone and cable television. Suites are available on
every floor.
The 5-Star Glenlo Abbey Hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels
of the World Group, an exclusive organisation which, for a quarter
of a century, has brought together some of the finest quality
hotels, country houses and historic chateaux around the world.

and refinement. Glenlo Abbey Hotel is also a fully approved

(AA) and Best Loved Hotels of the World.
The Pullman Carriage Restaurant - a slice of History! Converted
into a wonderful Restaurant Car without losing any of its original
character, this historic Pullman train carriage had been residing
at Elsenham Station in Hertfordshire, England, before joining
the many and varied facilities already available at Glenlo Abbey
Hotel. Located just behind our golf course's 1st tee, it overlooks
the old Clifden - Galway Railway Line which passed through the
estate until its removal in 1935. The Pullman seats 66, and
comprises two Carriages and a Kitchen Car. There are also two
enclosed 6-seater Compartments - perfect for intimate Private
Dining. The Dining Carriage, named "Leona", was formerly a 1st
Class Parlour Car, and the richness of wood, marqueterie and
brass-work within it reflect this former "raison d'étre" and
offer an extraordinary dining experience. You can enjoy the
old-world charm and elegance of this world-famous luxury train
for dinner, private parties, incentive events, and, especially,
Themed Events.
The Pullman has experienced a very varied life. Built in 1927,
its routes included the Monaco/Istanbul/St. Petersburg runs,
and also the Brighton run. This latter brought theatrical personages
from Brighton to London, when they were starring in London's
West End. In 1974, it played a starring role in the Agatha Christie
film "Murder on the Orient Express".
Another interesting part of the Pullman's life occurred during
World War II, when it was used by Sir Winston Churchill and
his family. Its final run was on January 30, 1965, when it carried
Sir Winston's remains and his funeral cortége back to his ancestral
home, Blenheim Palace, where he is buried.
In addition, the bright and airy River Room, was designed to
complement the history and tradition of the 259-year old Glenlo
Abbey Hotel, while at the same time maximising our guests enjoyment
of the superb views surrounding the Hotel. With tall windows
on all five exterior walls, guests are afforded a view of Lough
Corrib wherever they are seated. With its enchanting views and
classical decor, it's an ideal choice for receptions or banquets
and is the usual setting for buffet style, continental or traditional
Irish breakfast. The River Room is open from 7.00pm - 9.30pm.
Sunday Brunch Menu Served from 1.00 pm. - 4.00 pm every Sunday
with Traditional favourites and a taste of the Orient.
