CLONTARF CASTLE - Irish Guide Rating
* * * * *
|
Clontarf
Castle is a luxurious haven tucked away in suburban Dublin,
two miles from the hub of the city and just five miles from
Dublin Airport. Originally built in 1172, The castle was later
given in the 17th Century to a loyal servant of Cromwell’s
army whose family continued to hold ownership for the following
300 years.
In the past, a gate lodge was the home of the
castle gate-keeper who welcomed, but closely vetted, all calling
visitors. Today at Clontarf Castle our process is not quite
so rigorous and those who come a-calling, can make this castle
their home.
Clontarf
holds a special place in the annuals of Irish history. Here
Ireland’s heroic High King laid special welcome to those
mischievous travellers from Nordic shores, our welcome may
not be so robust but just as Royal.
Like the plot of a chessboard, every detail of design has been
carefully considered, the magnificent entrance hall of the castle
is a triumph of style. Hanging tapestries adorn the walls, mysterious
doorways and roaring fires create an impressive warm beginning.
Clontarf Castle has 14 luxurious suites fit for a King, or Queen.
Magnificent four poster beds and an array of quality features
that will make your stay a regal occasion. as well as 111 luxurious
guestrooms all fully equipped with the very latest technology.
